About Dr. Atkins
Dr. Aaron Atkins was born and raised in Lubbock, Texas. From a young age, Dr. Atkins knew he wanted to be an oral surgeon. His curiosity started with dentistry, but after shadowing a dentist in town, he realized his interests were geared more towards oral surgery. He felt that oral surgery was the perfect combination of dentistry and medicine, which made it an easy choice for him to pursue a career in it.
Dr. Atkins has been practicing full-scope oral and maxillofacial surgery since 2015. Patient comfort and safety are the focus of his patient care philosophy. He wants patients to understand that the treatment he provides them is the safest it can be, and it’s the same treatment he would provide to his own family members. When patients come into the office, it’s important to Dr. Atkins that they experience the comfortable and laid-back environment. To Dr. Atkins, the most rewarding part of being an oral surgeon is the interaction with patients and having the opportunity to identify and treat their oral health problems.
Dr. Atkins attended Texas Tech in Lubbock as an undergraduate and then continued to the University of San Antonio for dental school. After receiving his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from the University of San Antonio School of Dentistry, Dr. Atkins felt that earning a medical degree would improve his knowledge and skills and help him provide patients with truly comprehensive treatment. In 2015, Dr. Atkins graduated from LSU (Health) Medical School in Shreveport, Louisiana, with an MD. He currently serves as the Director of Seattle Study Club—a study club for local oral surgeons—to help other surgeons continue their education and provide patients with the best experience possible.
Following his extensive education, Dr. Atkins completed an oral and maxillofacial surgical residency. During this rigorous residency, Dr. Atkins worked alongside trained surgeons and gained hands-on experience treating a wide range of oral and facial disorders. He also trained with licensed anesthesiologists to learn the safe and proper administration of all forms of anesthesia. This intensive residency prepared Dr. Atkins to practice full-scope oral and maxillofacial surgery and safely administer anesthesia in an office setting.
Dr. Atkins is certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, which means he has completed rigorous exams and intensive training to be the highest qualified professional in the treatment of all oral and facial conditions. He has demonstrated his exemplary knowledge of the OMS specialty, and he continues to uphold the highest standards.
