Pre-Prosthetic Surgery

Your Dentures Can Fit Comfortably

Living without teeth or with an ill-fitting denture can make even the simplest tasks, such as eating or laughing, incredibly difficult or even uncomfortable. At Amarillo Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery & Dental Implants in Amarillo, TX, our oral surgeons can perform pre-prosthetic surgery to reshape the mouth and gum line, creating a secure and functional fit.

The Pre-Prosthetic Surgery Process

Every patient’s mouth is different, and their specific condition will determine what type of pre-prosthetic surgery will fit their needs. During your first visit with us, we will take 3D CBCT scans of your mouth and discuss anesthesia and sedation options to ensure your total comfort during the procedure.

Depending on your individual needs, the type of pre-prosthetic surgery needed will vary. Your oral surgeon may reshape or smooth out the bony ridge of your mouth as well as any teeth that are misshapen in order to fit properly with the dentures. Excess bone or gum tissue may also be removed.

Some people tolerate dentures well, while others find them uncomfortable and embarrassing. If you’re ready to explore permanent tooth replacement options, such as dental implants or a full-arch restoration with our 4-Hour Smile procedure, we are happy to discuss them with you.
